XPOSED Open Air 2026: Queer Short Films go Rehberge

XPOSED Queer Film Festival Berlin presents highlights from its 2026
edition, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of Berlin’s beloved queer
festival for cinephiles. Mixing fiction, documentary, animation, and
essay, these films imagine queer stories rooted in ecologies,
displacement, manifesto and hopes for future. The program opens with
"Scorpionikas – Counter-manifesto”, a cinematic resistance centering
trans women and sex workers, weaving archival footage from a 1890s
brothel with an anti-colonial, anti-patriarchal performance.
"Floraison” follows a journey toward community through ballroom culture,
as its protagonist confronts their own denial and learns to accept the
possibilities of collective belonging."Eyes to See” takes on the lens of
Khoe heritage, delving into how queerness is inherently woven into
African cultural and spiritual practices. "Honey, My Love, So Sweet”
turns to childhood, capturing vignettes from the life of a queer child
growing up inside an old cinema in Manila, where the screen becomes a
space for discovering the self. "Unbelong” reflects on the conditions of
not belonging, moving from LGBT+ rights protests in the filmmaker’s
hometown to relocation, displacement, and the experience of exile in
another city. Finally, "Lázaro’s Temptation” closes the program with a
trippy portrait of gay gym culture and obsession over muscled bodies.
